Maya/Nuke Exercise – Depth of Field

Depth of field is a popular 3D effect, because it can really help to make 3D scenes ‘pop’, and give the appearance of natural camera focus. The other day I did an experiment with using DOF in Maya and putting it together in Nuke (I also made use of the coloured glass shaders from earlier).

The first attempt had more of a blur in the front than the back, which was where I wanted it
Objects in the front are nice and crisp, while the ones in the back are more blurry, albeit the effect is still too subtle for my liking
